Fitting Points for Custom Hearing Protection

Pacific Ears New Zealand is dedicated to helping you achieve the perfect fit for your custom hearing protection. A fitting point is a clinic near you that takes the ear impressions we use to make your custom earplugs, earpieces or in-ear monitors.

Why a proper fit matters

Custom-fit hearing protection is shaped precisely to your ears, which gives you:

Maximum noise reduction – a complete seal provides the attenuation the product is rated for.
Comfort for extended wear – properly fitted earplugs and earpieces can be worn for long periods without discomfort.
Better sound – for musicians and in-ear monitor users, an accurate fit preserves sound quality while reducing harmful levels.

How it works

1. Order online

Place your order through our web shop. There is no need to arrange anything beforehand.

2. We send you your nearest fitting point

We will contact you with the details of a fitting point within two working days of receiving your order. We have an extensive chain of fitting points and clinics all over New Zealand, so there is always one close by – in Auckland alone we work with more than 19 clinics.

3. Your impressions are taken

A qualified clinician takes impressions of both ears. The appointment usually takes about 15 minutes, and the clinic sends the impressions directly to us. The cost of the appointment and the impressions is included in the product price.

4. We make your product

Once we receive your impressions, our turnaround time is about 7 working days.

5. We ship it to you

When your product is finished we send it to your shipping address and email you the tracking information.

Which products need ear impressions?

Impressions are required for PACS Pro earplugs, ER Musicians Earplugs, SleepSounds, Swimplugs, Custom Sleeves and our custom in-ear monitors. Universal-fit products do not need impressions and ship as soon as possible, depending on stock.

Already have impressions on file?

We scan your ear impressions and keep the electronic copy on file, so a repeat order from our custom range usually will not need a new appointment – and returning customers can request a discount code before ordering. See impressions on file and discounts for details.

Tips for a good appointment

Allow enough time – book when you are not rushed.
Clean ears give accurate impressions – if you are prone to wax build-up, have your ears professionally cleaned beforehand.
Speak up – tell the clinician about any discomfort or concerns during the appointment.

Using your own audiologist

I absolutely love my sleep earplugs. I would describe them as life changing! Here are my tips too….

I am a side sleeper so i only wear the ear up (as my ears are small and i feel the pillow side) but they still work amazingly (and block the breathing sound of person beside). I also wore during some of Xmas day when the festivities got too noisy and i just needed to dull the noisy a bit.

Normal earplugs just fall out or don’t fit but these are a perfect fit. Not gonna lie, still haven’t quite figured out how to put in without a mirror, but when i have a mirror and use my phone camera to show the ear position, they go in in seconds and i just grab the very side to pull out (they feel tight which is good as you kinda get that mild suction to seal and block noise). Couldn’t recommend more!

Great for hunting and shooting with muzzle brakes. You can get away with having whispered conversations but blocks out a gun shot well.

At ASWEFA, four of us (three instructors and myself) use the PACS Pro 27, and they’ve made a noticeable difference in our training on machines at work. Previously, relying on the disposable earplugs provided to visitors on site was frustrating and inconsistent. The PACS Pro 27 earbuds from Pacific Ears are a far better solution, reliable, comfortable, and purpose-built for real working environments. For anyone working in training, industry, or high-noise settings who needs protection without sacrificing communication or professionalism, we’d highly recommend them.

I use these plugs regularly, specifically for surfing. I’ve tried every brand of ear plugs on the market and these offer the best overall solution. Perfect fit means they mould to your ear canals, even if you have problems like surfers-ear. No leakage and they never fall out even in heavy surf conditions. The inbuilt cord provides reassurance of no loosing a plug if they did fall out. The attachment of the cord is recessed so it allows plugs to be worn under a hood/cap, which is a differentiator vs competitor products. They still block out a lot of sound, but better than many alternatives, and the trade-off for protection of my sensitive/damaged ear drums is a no-brainer. Production and shipping was incredibly fast.

Recommendation; give option whether or not to have the clip on the cord. I found mine put too much weight on the cord, so had to file it off.
